 Spring Garden Planning Inspiration

It’s not too late for you grab some inspiration and get that Spring garden off to a great start! Sure, maybe you should have started in November with the planning, but Vining Stone is your best partner for great mulches, hardscapes and personal attention.  Here are a few of our best tips:

  • Know where the sun shines. If you haven’t taken a good look at where the sun is at all times of the day, do it before you plant any new vegetation or install new hardscaping. Nothing is worse than sentencing happy new plants or seeds to their death because it gets too sunny or not sunny enough in a given location.
  • Know where the rain falls.  Are you planning on putting a plant underneath a canopy of trees? Several types of plants and groundcovers are great for that, but those big roots might usurp the moisture and the canopy may keep the rain from reaching the plants. Perhaps choosing those not needing a lot of moisture is a good decision.
  • Know where the river runs. You probably don’t have a real river running through it, but you might in the Spring rain if you have erosion problems! We’ve already encountered a number of strong storms this season and you know more are expected. Planning a great landscape with dry beds, pebbles, rock and other hardscape materials designed to minimize erosion will save precious water and plants. If you are not sure about what type of product is best for water mitigation, you know we’ll be glad to answer your questions!
  • Know the best plants for your area. We’ll be writing another article about this soon, but start doing your research about which plants can withstand the heat and humidity, which are best suited for your type of garden/lot and which will perform best in your individual circumstances.
